for the 2015 Con

What Folks Say
In my opinion, the Chicago Love is Murder conference is the best bang for your buck for any mystery conference around. This was my third time attending and I have to say it gets better every year. Here’s a brief run-down of some of the panel discussions, the behind-the-scenes takes you won’t get on a roster, and those ‘you just had to be there moments’ as Tweeted and Facebooked by attendees.

It's no secret that reading is an excellent pastime. THE POWER OF TRUTH: An Interview with Peter Kornbluh

by Hanley Kanar and Libby Fischer Hellman

THE POWER OF TRUTH: An Interview with Peter Kornbluh
A Note from Hanley: Libby Hellmann and I did a sort of tag-team interview with Peter because we both had legitimate claims to being best suited to the job. Rather than resort to fisticuffs, we decided to both “do him.” In all honesty, some people felt Libby’s extensive research into Cuban history might better fit her for the task, but we’ll let readers decide. Here are the facts:

Libby’s latest novel, Havana Lost, is set in Cuba and is the third in her trilogy on how strife and revolution affect the human spirit. She even made a trip to Cuba to conduct some of her research. Peter Kornbluh directs the Cuba Documentation Project and the Chile Documentation Project at the National Security Archive (www.nsarchive.org), a public-interest research center located at George Washington University in Washington, DC. He is co-author of The Iran-Contra Scandal: The Declassified History (New Press), author of The Pinochet File: A Declassified Dossier on Atrocity and Accountability (New Press, recently reissued) and co-author of a forthcoming book on the untold history of dialogue between the United States and Cuba. Seems like a great overlap, I admit...

My claim? I have known Peter Kornbluh since high school. We were in the same drama group, Junior Light Opera and I had a secret crush on him. Clearly this is a tie situation...

So here’s the interview, based on preliminary work by Libby, with questions by me.
